2025 Coaching Team

We proudly welcome back Mr Kerry Goulet [The Gouche] as our 2025 Head Coach back for his third year in the for the ICE and the AIHL. Kerry, a Toronto resident, is well known in Australia as a player, coach, promoter, podmaster and empresario. Best known for his work with Stop Concussions and The Hockey [USA|Canada] Classic, Kerry will be here in January to take over the helm, but has started work immediately with the Assistant Coaches interviews, and identifying imports for 2025 and beyond.

Brent Laver is arguably the most credentialled coach in the country with many overseas and international stints as coach and mentor to many Australian junior players.
He joined Melbourne ice in 2013 as head coach and has played many roles since then, including Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Hockey Mentor to our young warriors. His bio can be found:

With over 32 years of coaching experience spanning multiple sports, countries, and competitive levels, Damien is a dedicated and accomplished coach who brings a wealth of expertise to the ice hockey community. Holding a degree focussed on teaching & Sports Coaching, Damien has spent the last 10 years coaching ice hockey in Victoria within the Next Level Hockey organisation based out of Oakleigh Ice Rink, creating development opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. Since joining Joey Hughes at Next Level, Damien has coached the Melbourne Jets and the Victorian State Team, where his passion for player development and community engagement continues to thrive.
